Karl Moser - St. Antonius Church, Basel 1931. Image Via.
I had the opportunity to visit this church awhile back (my pictures were terrible), and it is a truly amazing space. It’s incredibly expansive; the columns seem nervously undersized to support the waffled roof and the smallest sound echos off the walls. The monotone color of the rough-cast concrete is sharply contrasted by the rays of light filtered through the massive stained glass windows, adding dramatic splashes of color that move throughout the day. The exterior is extremely monolithic as well, with a geometric bell tower that can be seen from all over Basel.
